Capa, the Michelin Starred Restaurant at Four Seasons Resort Orlando, Debuts Enhancements and Receives Spanish Restaurant Certification

Capa Steakhouse, the one Michelin starred rooftop steakhouse at Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, recently unveiled enhancements to the kitchen and overall dining experience, and received Spanish certification from the Embassy of Spain. Also, Capa and the Resort are prominently featured in the Netfilx hit show Somebody Feed Phil, with series seven just released today, March 1, 2024, featuring notable dining spots around greater Orlando. Capa, known for its delectable prime meats cooked over a wood-burning grill, fresh seafood and tasty Spanish tapas, may be perhaps equally known for its striking ambiance and stylish decor. A favourite dining destination for visitors and locals alike, its 17th floor perch boasts stunning views overlooking lakes, woodlands, and the nightly Walt Disney World fireworks from the restaurant’s two outdoor terraces.

Capa’s updated look, designed by Parker-Torres Design of Boston, Massachusetts, includes delicate Spanish fans swaying overhead, made of a reflective custom-painted laser-cut metal, adding some shimmer as they gently sway. All new seating areas, including cosy banquettes in the main restaurant, red bar stools, and bold artwork, also add pops of colour.

Keeping in line with Capa’s Spanish-influenced cuisine, the design of the space was inspired by the beautiful movement and attire of Spanish performers such as the matador and flamenco dancer. “The vibrant red fan art extending along the ceiling in the main dining area is reminiscent of the flaring of a flamenco dancer’s dress, allowing freedom of movement throughout space,” notes Kristen Emory, lead senior interior designer with Parker Torres. “Intentional textures and fabric patterns, elaborate carpet design and art elements emulate the ornate detailing found in the matador’s traje de luces, or “suit of lights.”

Most notably for the culinary team, the kitchen underwent an expansion, giving the chefs more room to cook, curate and assemble the various dishes served nightly. With the wood-burning grill in the centre of the bustling kitchen, a beautiful surrounding white marble built-in with open shelving houses Capas’s plateware, while custom refrigeration units showcase Capa’s premium cuts of meat.

“Capa’s open kitchen design is not only visually stunning, but it’s also now optimal for our team of cooks,” notes Fabrizio Schenardi, Executive Chef of Four Seasons Resort Orlando, overseeing Capa and the Resort’s five other restaurants, in-room dining, and banquet culinary operations.

The new furnishings and accent carpets give Capa a fresh appeal. Additionally, the inviting outdoor terraces were updated with new furnishings, planters, and other decor elements.

Restaurants from Spain Certification

Capa also recently received recognition from the Embassy of Spain with the prestigious “Restaurants from Spain” certification.  The Restaurants from Spain certification recognizes quality, authentic restaurants in the US that represent traditional Spanish menu items and incorporate authentic products imported from Spain.  The certification committee found that Capa’s menu is comprised of 48 percent Spanish dishes, with descriptions in Spanish and English, and with the offerings including Spanish Iberico ham, charcuterie, Marcona almonds, sherry vinegar, Pimenton de la vera smoked paprika, and Spanish cheeses, the restaurant qualified for the certification. Additionally, Capa also carries a wine list with nearly 60 percent of wines from Spain, as well as some Spanish liqueurs. Capa also has several Spanish-speaking team members, another important criterion considered for certification, including Capa General Manager Andres Hernandez.

To me, this accreditation reflects the hard work the team puts in not only to create the most delicious, beautifully presented dishes, but also the work behind the scenes in sourcing authentic food items to ensure the Capa Steakhouse experience as a Spanish-influenced restaurant is truly the best it can be.”

The certificate is proudly on display upon arrival to Capa, showcased in the entryway alongside the restaurant’s Michelin star plaques for 2023 and 2022.

Somebody Feed Phil

Last summer, Four Seasons Resort Orlando welcomed the crew from the Netflix hit show Somebody Feed Phil, a culinary travel series. Host Phil Rosenthal and crew filmed in the Resort’s lazy river and Capa, and scenes are featured throughout the episode.  After 18 months of planning in partnership with Visit Orlando, the show has come to fruition, and will be featured in more than 190 countries and eight languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. Following the unscripted and unrehearsed nature of the show, Rosenthal and his crew spent a week exploring Orlando’s lesser-known and multicultural food scene, and feature everything from Michelin starred restaurants such as Capa to immigrant-owned businesses and multicultural/fusion restaurants favoured by locals.  The show features award-winning chefs, noted local personalities, elected officials and foodie experts, all shining a light on Orlando’s culinary gems and growing positioning as a “foodie city.”  In October 2023, Orlando ranked as #1 on the list of Best Foodie Cities in America, according to WalletHub.

About Capa

Capa encompasses the entire 17th floor of Four Seasons Resort Orlando. Drawing inspiration from the Basque culture of Spain, the restaurant décor pays homage to an important part of Spain’s history.  Design highlights include a vibrant bar that is featured front-and-centre, surrounded by a mural of antique replica Spanish coins, positioned in the shape of a matador and bull.
