Amber Asher
CEO, Standard International
Promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Standard International in October of 2021, Amber Asher is driven to lead the Standard, Bunkhouse and Peri brands and their teams as they head into a phase of significant growth.
Starting her career with The Standard 12 years ago as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Andre Balazs Properties, Amber has seen the company through several challenging and transformational phases: in 2013, she led the sale of a majority stake in the brand to Standard International, where she became the Executive Vice President and General Counsel and went on to become President in 2017. Most recently, from March 2020, when the pandemic decimated New York City and the hospitality industry globally, Amber unified a team isolated by Covid, led a strategy to adapt our operations under ever-changing Covid-related constraints and capitalized on the opportunity to expand the footprint of our brands.
Over the last six years, Amber has built and led the Standard International team through the accelerated growth and international expansion of the Standard and Bunkhouse brands. Ms. Asher has led all corporate transactions, including the purchase of a majority stake in The Bunkhouse Group, the formation, launch, and VC investment of One:Night, and the capitalisation of the company by Sansiri, in addition to negotiating all agreements for new hotel developments and overseeing all legal matters for The Standard and Bunkhouse. Amber has served on the Board of Bunkhouse since 2015 and has served on the Boutique Lifestyle Leaders Association Board. Further to her commitment to mentorship and education, Amber teaches at the Hotel Law Program of Washington College of Law, American University.
Prior to joining Andre Balazs Properties in 2011, Amber served as the Associate General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Morgans Hotel Group where she oversaw all legal matters related to development, operations, intellectual property, employment, food and beverage, and financing. Amber began practicing law at Latham & Watkins LLP in 2001, in the Finance and Real Estate Department, where she focused on all aspects of commercial real estate law with a particular concentration in real estate finance, corporate transactions, leasing and hospitality.
