Marcel N.A. Holman is a seasoned hospitality executive who helms the new Pan Pacific Orchard as General Manager, in addition to his regional role as Vice President of Operations for Japan, Oceania, China and Indonesia for Pan Pacific Hotels Group.
The Dutch-born hotelier found his footing as an intrepid non-conformist early on in his career: It began with a one-way ticket to Queenstown, New Zealand in 1993 to jumpstart his hospitality career, followed by a move to Chengdu, China a few years later after time in Cairns, Australia, strengthening his taste for adventure and spicy food along the way.
In the last two decades, Holman has led the acceleration of growth in numerous luxury chains including Shangri-La Group, IHG Hotels and Resorts, The Sukhothai Hotels and Resorts and The Langham Hotels & Resorts. He was instrumental in successfully launching several flagship luxury properties including The Sukhothai Shanghai, which opened in 2018, making his mark as the ‘go-to’ leader for a steady hand to steer teams through transformation and growth.
Holman’s valuable know-how and global understanding of cultural nuances stem from his years navigating the diverse hospitality landscape across Europe, New Zealand, Australia, the Middle East and Asia, allowing him to define luxury on new terms, with a distinct discernment of what tomorrow’s customer desires now. As one who thrives in diverse, fast-paced environments, he firmly believes in the collective effort of teamwork to achieve shared goals and continuously raise the bar for the delivery of unique and top-quality guest experiences.
