A visionary leader with an impressive background in hospitality, Philipp Weghmann currently serves as Vice President and Global Brand Leader for The Luxury Collection. In his role, Mr Weghmann oversees global strategy, brand management, brand standards, brand marketing, partnerships, as well as the guest experience worldwide. With more than 120 hotels in over 35 countries and territories and an impressive pipeline of over 25 hotels scheduled to open over the next 5 years, The Luxury Collection’s portfolio features some of the world’s most iconic hotels and resorts. From the storied Gritti Palace in Venice, Italy, to the transformative Al Maha Desert Lodge outside Dubai, the collection also includes the ultra-private North Island in the Seychelles and the highly awarded Hotel The Mitsui in Kyoto, Japan. Other recent openings Include Santo Mauro In Madrid, Spain; The Tasman In Hobart, Australia; Josun Palace in Seoul, South Korea and Solaz In Los Cabos, Mexico.
Mr. Weghmann joins The Luxury Collection with over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to this role, Mr. Weghmann served as the Executive Vice President of Europe for Preferred Hotel Group and Beyond Green, where he was responsible for the company’s growth and evolution in the region as well as ensuring the retention of over 200 member properties across 25 countries in Europe. In 2018, he was recognised by HSMAI as one of Europe’s Top 20 Extraordinary Minds for his strength in leadership and contributions to the industry as a whole. Earlier roles included Area Managing Director – Latin America and Caribbean, and Regional Director – Iberian Peninsula and Mediterranean for Preferred Hotels & Resorts and International Hotel Development Manager for Hotusa Hotels. Mr. Weghmann began his career in Cape Town, South Africa where he spent four years learning many different facets of the industry working with The Table Bay Hotel, Horwath Tourism & Leisure Consulting, and Wine Concepts.
Philipp holds a bachelor’s degree in both Hotel Administration and European Hospitality Management from the prestigious Hotel Management School The Hague in the Netherlands. Philipp is fluent in German, English, Spanish and French. He currently resides in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife and two daughters. He is an active member of YPO (Young Presidents’ Organisation).
