Chief Operating Officer, AvroKO
Tom Chalmers serves as AvroKO’s chief operating officer, leading the globally recognised design practice and hospitality operator with over twenty years of experience in commercial hospitality design, brand development, property development and construction. His broad understanding of commercial property design has developed via roles as design director for Edyn Development Studio and managing director of AvroKO. He is also a co-founder and shareholder in Birch Community, an award-winning hotel brand based in the UK.
Prior to AvroKO, Tom led Edyn’s Development Studio’s global design consultants across 12 large-scale European hotel and residential sites, as well as multiple acquisition assessments across Europe. Additional highlighted projects he design-managed include the luxury development The Whiteley London (Six Senses / AvroKO), Four Seasons Madrid (AvroKO) and the boutique Timber Cove hotel redevelopment for Ironstate development in Sonoma, California. Tom’s previous roles also include director of property development for Standard International Management (owner and operator of The Standard Hotels in New York, Miami, LA, and London).
Tom has collaborated extensively with leading developers, designers, artists, architects, operators, and private ownership groups across the EMEA, US, and Asian markets—delivering unique hospitality concepts. Tom was selected as one of only 100 Nottingham design graduates from the past 170 years to exhibit at the “Since 1843: In the Making” in the UK, and is an active fellow of the RSA (Royal Society of Arts).
