With over 31 years of illustrious experience in the hospitality industry, 26 of which have been dedicated to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Werner Anzinger has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership in managing the operations and strategic vision of his hotels.
In his role as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai and Area Vice President, Operations, Werner oversees not only the day-to-day affairs of Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai but also provides valuable insights and leadership to the broader operational landscape of the region inclusive of Dubai, Doha and Austria.
Since the hotel’s inauguration, he has played a pivotal role in enhancing its reputation as the city’s leading luxury hotel, orchestrating a seamless blend of luxury, efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
A native of Austria, Mr. Anzinger first joined the company in 1997 at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London as a Chief Steward, fast climbing the ranks to become Assistant Food and Beverage Manager in the year 2000. Moving on to become Food and Beverage Manager for Bermuda’s Elbow Beach Resort in 2002– which was managed by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group until March 2014 – he then played a pivotal part in the opening of Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C.
Following these accomplishments, Mr. Anzinger assumed leadership roles in Munich, Hong Kong, and London, showcasing his versatility and dedication to excellence. His tenure as General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Prague, from 2011 to 2017, marked a period of increased profitability, elevated competitive positioning, and record-breaking “Legendary Quality Experience” scores in 2013.
Having arrived in Dubai in 2018, Werner played a critical role in the successful opening of the first Mandarin Oriental in the Middle East. His leadership has positioned the hotel as a best-in-class establishment, offering unparalleled experiences and services in a fiercely competitive market.
Beyond financial success, Werner has championed sustainability and community engagement initiatives. Under his guidance, the hotel achieved single-use plastic-free status, collaborated with not-for-profit organizations, and participated in initiatives like the creation of a Fan-shaped artificial reef off the coast of Fujairah, fostering a commitment to environmental responsibility.
Werner’s positive and empowering leadership style has become the heartbeat of Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai. His tireless enthusiasm, coupled with a strong belief in and empowerment of his team, has fostered a culture of creativity, innovation, and excellence within the resort.
A family man with three children, Mr. Anzinger has seamlessly integrated into the vibrant community of Dubai, indulging in his passions for travel, golf, badminton, skiing, and literature. Fluent in English and German, he has also embarked on the journey of learning Spanish, showcasing his commitment to continuous growth and adaptability in the dynamic world of luxury hospitality.
